Hi everyone ,
I'm just wondering does the new 2004 A2's in the UK have rear disc brakes as apposed to drums?
Thanks ,
JD
I may be wrong on this, but I believe the only 2004 versions to have rear discs are the 1.4 Tdi (90PS) and the 1.6 FSI.
But I don't think a car of this weight really needs rear discs, so I doubt whether most drivers would feel the differnce anyway. But Audi do these spec changes to help differentiate between the models I think.
Will,
You're quite right. Rear discs are standard on the TDi (90) and the 1.6 FSi.
I'd agree, having tried both, the difference feels marginal, even braking from 3 figure speeds.
The 1.6 FSi has a bigger rear spoiler but the 90 doesn't.

Quite apart from the lack of a definite difference in braking feel, the other effect of rear discs is to make the hand brake incredibly stiff - or it was in the demonstrator I drove recently!
Still, no rusting drums to worry about - just rusting calipers (hopefully not).[1]

thought i noticed rear discs on some new a2's driving by.
the drums are rusty i was thinking of painting them, anyone recommend any paints and know cost
