Yet again 185-50-16 Tyres

Have you had trouble obtaining 185-50-16 tyres???

If the answer is YES you are not alone.

I have for the past 2 weeks tried to get this size, all the ones in stock are Pirelli and are about £100 each, if you want Mich, Cont or Dunlop thats £120-150 each and thats if you can find them, today I found 1 Mich in North Scotland, 2 Dunlops in Yorkshire and 2 Kumho in Germany, as with my previous search which took 6 weeks I ended up ordering the Kumho KH11 £58 each, only this time I used mytyres.co.uk and should be here within 10 days.

I did have a chat with a techy at Audi and 205-45-16 will fit and are about the same price, seeing as I have recently had new fronts I throught it would be wiser to keep them all the same size, I will swop them this time to get an even ware and change all 4 for to this size, assuming I can't get the correct size...

Something I've thought of is getting hold of a spare Michelin Primacy & storing it in the garage.
Possibly a silly question but do tyres need to be stored in any special conditions if they might sit in the same place for a couple of years. I'm thinking of the rubber perishing etc.

When the time comes to replace a pair of tyres through natural usage, I'll just get whats available but for punctures (of which I've had 2) having a spare already located could be a godsend.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

I have 205x45x16 ZR and they fit a treat, I chose... repeat chose (didn't have any problem getting this size, lots to choose from!) SP 9000 Dunny's
I paid £94 each, if you get 2 of these lob them on the back.

I had a similar idea but as changing the car has been on the agenda for the last six months I have not done anything yet - will wait and see what is on the new car when it comes and if hard to get will probably store one.

I believe they have a shelf life of 5-6 years and should be stored in the dark. If it is just the tyre store it flat and away from solvents. Manufacturers should have some guidance.

I wish I have the 17in alloys just for the sake of able to find tyres than the 16in.

I was trying to order the toyos from mytyres.co.uk (heard the toyos are great and cheap), but they never managed to give me any. Then I have a second unrepairable puncture in my rear wheel with lots of tread left (my fronts were almost up)!! Making my poor car sitting in the parking. Couldn't wait and changed my order to 4 x SP9000 @~75 quid each. And they came in 4 days! Got them fitted and balanced at a local garage with a spare Mich stored. The SP9000s are very good, try them but 120 is definitely toooooo expensive.
