Brake pad wear warning

Got my 2001 A2 (1.4 Tdi SE) on Thursday. 200 miles since then. All great - but then the brake pad wear light came on today. The pads were inspected by dealer before purchase and deemed OK. Will be calling dealer tomorrow to book car in; it may of course be a fault with the wear indicator and not the pads themselves.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
