FAULTY SUSPENSION

My Audi A2 1.4 TDi is my pride and joy,had it for nearly 2 years now. This is the best car on the road.
But I have just had to have the offside suspension replaced ( under warranty phew !!!!!!) So I am wondering if this is a common problem ??

Do you know what the fault was? The bushes are the most common parts to fail, but this usually happens when the rubber perishes letting the grease run out. Though this usually happens on much older cars. Otherwise all I can think of is that if the arms are made from aluminium then they may have a fatigue crack in them. This would be very serious indeed and would possible require a recall on other A2s. it'll be very interesting to hear more on this.

I've been an A2 owner for 9 months, the car is a TDi SE with Open Sky. The only criticism I have is that I find the suspension set up really bouncy. Given that the car has done 60k it may be that it requires new shockers, or does anyone think different?

Just to add to this thread...I've just had work completed on the nearside front suspension of my 2002 TDi. Started to notice a hard knocking noise when going over relatively small bumps. Dealer diagnosed it as faulty bushes and a broken anti-roll bar. All replaced under warranty (luckily only 1,500 miles off the magic 60,000 miles!)

I never found my A2 'bouncy' at all - in fact, the suspension was quite stiff.

I also had a broken anti roll bar replaced under warranty - front driver side though.

1yr on - There's a loud squeak from the back suspension when i get out of the car!

Ours is at the dealers for two days (2nd AVS & long list of stuff) They are going to investigate the squeak from the rear suspension - I'll let you know how they fob us off!

now thats intresting I egt squeaks from the rear suspension when I have passengers in the back but not all the time. seems to come and go very annoying. my dealer could not hear the squeak so was unable to advise
