A2 Reliability?

I purchased an RAC Inspected 2001 A2 1.4 SE last August. It had covered 19,000 miles. It was due it's next variable service and as It was purchased from a non-Audi dealer I took it to my local dealership 2 days later. I was shocked to be advised that it required £1,500 of additional work. The anti-roll bar had slight surface corrosion but was not in any way dangerous, the exhaust flexible joint rattled a little. I had the car reinspected and was advised this work was not required!
Since December the car has had a different warning light come on each month, the post Cat Lambda probe replaced - £170. A month later a throttle body decoke - £160. It will requre a replacement sensor if this does not rectify the problem - £160. And now a week later the ABS warning lights come on sometimes, I hate to think what that will cost!
The car has only covered 27,000 miles and is fully serviced. This is my first and probably last Audi, which s a shame as I love the A2...

Mmmmmm, my opinion is that the Audi qulaity on the A2 is a bit more hit-and-miss than it is on other models in the Audi range.

I had two dodgy A2's in a row, both factory fresh, so I must have been very unlucky.....

Yet, if you read the general forum, you will see a post I put up which has a link to a news story where the A2 is 7th in top quality survey (1st being the very best).

I have had mine since new and it has done 3 years and 74000 miles now... I will rate it reliable to be honest. Small niggles here and there but nothing serious. My front anti-rollbar also went (it made a knocking noise over bumps though) so that seems a normal A2 thing... I think you just struck it unlucky.

hello! i think my anti roll bar also needs replacing on the drivers side as it makes a knocking noise when going over bumps! please advise me on how much it cost you to fix the problem! thnx
