Oil for an A2 1.4 Petrol

Hi Folks

I am confused about which oil is suitable for my A2. It is a 1.4 petrol registered in Dec 2000 (2001 model)on variable service schedule. The manual states that VW 503.00 and VW 503.01 can both be used. I have bought some Castrol SLX Longlife II but I am not sure that this is the correct oil. Should I be using this or Longlife basic ?

Unless you are using the variable service periods then 503.01 is the correct oil.

503.01 = Fixed Servicing
503.00 = Variable servicing

Thanks very much Simon. I am on variable servicing so it looks like I got the correct one. The manual is pretty vague about this.
