When oil light comes on !

Im doing a big trip this weekend ,and should be upto 3000 miles
in my 1.4tdi.
When could i expect the oil light to come on , and if it does
do i put the whole container of Audi supplied oil in ?
Ive checked the level and it seems ok ,but ive read it may
be due a top up soon -new engine and all that.

when my oil light came on it took 1 litre of oil approx. just keep adding oil .25 litre at a time till it reads ok on dip stick (if you can read it that is I have great trouble )
