Try a search, there was a post with service costs and some of the lowest were in the west country - from memory around 200-220 so the saving would pay for the trip and a night in a hotel!

My 1.4 TDI service was £209 at Bradford Audi - enough change for a hotel and a decent curry for four!

My local VW main agent will knock £100 off Audi price for the same service.

I take it then VW garages can service Audi cars then. Is it the same service that Audi would do and can the VW garage check adjust engine setups as I thought this was done using Audi diagnostics. This may sound like a silly question but I don't know much about cars

VW do use the same engines a lot of the time, so I would expect the engines diagnostics to be compatable.

I am told that they are fully equipped to do the A2 at the VW dealer. All my details and car details were on their computer. How do you know who to trust these days? They could do nothing, I wouldnt know, not that they would.
However some years ago I collected my neighbours car from service at a
main Ford dealers (she was a midwife and relied on a well serviced car),that car had not moved from the spot where I had parked it earlier, and it was clear that no work had taken place. The service manager said it had been serviced, but was unable to produce the technician who had done it. Unfortunately my neighbour accepted it and paid.
A friend who was employed by a well known national business to service cars told me they often only rubbed a rag around and sprayed WD40 on likely bits.
I trust my Audi dealer to do a good job, but the front of house staff are patronising incompetents and the prices ridiculous. They wear lovely suits though!

I have had many makes of cars and of course had them all serviced by the dealer. So far Audi have come out tops for customer service and actualy finding faults when I thought that they would'nt. I do trust Audi dealer but reluctant to spend out heaps of money for services. My wife has a Lupo and VW wanted £300 for service and MOT last year. Got it done by the AA service at Halfords for £140 all in and they serviced it to the makers specification. Not sure I would take my Audi to them though. The VW is 5 years old this year so its well out of warranty anyway. Will be taking it again this year to the AA

The dealer wouln't be in Barnsley by any chance? My sister bought a Mondeo a few years ago (not Ford main dealer) and they promised to service it before it was picked up - when my father looked at it it was obvious that it had not been done - service manager was very embarrassed when pressed for the computer printout showing what had been done, it couldn't be found!!
