Speaker Interference

Has anyone out there experienced feedback or static noises through the speakers when the car is running but the stereo is off? I have a loud and distinct crackle coming through on the rear nearside speaker when engine is running. Apparently the speakers/cables are all digital output and therefore finding the interference might be harder than just checking the connections. I thought you couldn't get digital interference! Any thoughts or experiences of similar problems please.

I had this issues when I had my A2... I noticed it more when using the mobile phone (full kit hard wired into the mute facility on the stereo).

I'm now using the same phone kit in my Golf and I've not had the same problems....
