Hi there folks,

As I understand it all A2 1.4 and 1.6 cars have removable rear seats as standard - at least in the UK.

The 1.2 TDI has two models:

1. The D4 (Euro 4 emmissions requirement coming in 2005) stripped back edition has a lightweight fixed rear bench - not even the rear squab is foldable? and there is no option of power steering or air-con nor extras like the false boot floor etc.

2. The D3 (Euro 3 Emissions)and the model I bought in Germany last month. has the same seats as the 1.4 TDI but they have a grey plastic lock fitted at the front hinge point - see pics Page 20 of UK owners section. Are these grey things removable and will that make it the same as a regular car? Why make them fixed anyways?

Hmmmmm [?] - Deustsche Logic?!

Hello Lukas!

My 1.2 had the same grey blocks fitted. They are a bit tricky to remove, but the rear seat works fine without them. (only a safety measure, I think). I had a D4 1.2 as a courtesy car, and the rear seat is a lot different (not foldable at all).

Bye, Frido.

My rear seats were also blocked. As far as my dealer told me this is the normal transport lock fitted on every A2 (except D4 version) and they just forgot to remove these plastic things.
