Jus had a phone call from Glasgow Audi. They say i need a new gearbox for my car which i've only had for a month. It'll be around £3-4k but covered by the warranty i have. It needs new tie rods and droplinks along with a new anti rool bar and bushes. total bill for which comes in at £850. Woo Hoo.

£3-4K for a manual gearbox.

I don't think so. Even new and from Audi, I suspect the real cost will be £1,500.

I think an independant would do the suspension for less than £400 as well....

The bar and bushes are about £70, the drop-links are about £25 each. Don't know about the tiebars - haven't had to do them - yet!

The gearbox is including the labour which is good. That'll be under warranty but the suspension is including the labour at £70 which is the discounted rate for being in the motor trade. The parts have a 10% discount on them too.

I got the warranty with Arnold Clark when i bought the car LAST MONTH.:mad: But they want to do the work themselves which i'm not too sure about.

Got my gearbox fixed and it runs great now :D :D :D :D Jus need to get the suspension sorted then we're jammin.

Good to hear that! Hope you can get the suspension done for less than the £850 you mentioned at the start!

I just got the car recovered to Audi again today. The management light came on again. Might hand it back now. Too many problems with it. :(

Maybe you're right. There's plenty other cars out there after all.... Be interesting to hear whether the dealer cooperates. Real shame, though.

theres a 1.6 fsi sport for sale. might swap it for that. insurance should cover it for £800 too.

jus had word. Apparently the dipstick has broken causing an oil leak and the smell of oil to come through the cabin. It'll be around £400 to get it sorted.

The gearbox has been done (no cost to me) the dipstick thing is getting sorted today (no cost to me) and the suspension is getting sorted on wednesday (no cost to me) still looking for a set of wheels for it.
