Looking at getting a used A2 TDI in black, what's the best spec to look for?

Any common faults to look out for?

Hi Jonny5
Welcome to the A2oc.
Most options come down to personal choice and the cars available at the time but climate control or the open sky roof should be at the top of your list. A2's are very noisy with the front windows open (try it on your test drive) so you nees some way of keeping the car interior cool in summer.

What to look for when buying s/h was covered recently in the attached thread

Hi

I have a TDI Sport 04. It has more gadgets than the SE models, including the information system on the dash for fuel consumption etc, however the ride is ROCK HARD. Its also the 75HP model, i think its quick enough simply because of the Torque but the Faster 95 hp model will fly along.

Check out the "Article" section on the main Forums page, it has loads of useful stuff

Don't know of many major probs, however check out older threads for consistant gremlins popping up.

Good Luck

As Emm say's, lots of it is down to personal preference. My cousin has a TDI 90 Sport and while they like it because it looks 'sporty' (their word, not mine) it rides like going down the stairs on a tea-tray; it also upsets my cousin the Sport doesn't get front fog lights...

If you want a bit of comfort, go for the SE but if you value the 'sporty' (sic) look, then go for the Sport. If you are not over bothered on the extra trinkets that come with the SE/ Sport, then the basic specification is OK.

Spike, you can open the front window without it sounding like the air is being chopped to bits; just open the opposing rear window a little ;)

What sort of cash are you spending Jonny5?
