Air con cleaner

I bought a spray can thingy that claims to clean the air con. The instructions say (something like) turn the air con on full, put the can in the footwell, push it on till it locks , shut the doors and go away. Anyone had any experience of this? It cost a full 50p so I can't waste it can I

its basically an anti baterial spray - it all helps. You can get loads of normal house sprays now which have the same effect, however that one is designed so you can activate it in the footwell and leave it to do its thing for 10 mins or so - a nice idea.
