Hi all! I am sure I read a post regarding engine management lights coming on and off again, but its happening to my A2 (2001 1.4 SE petrol, just clicked over 100K!!).

Had it hooked up to the diagnostic tools at local audi specialist, they said even though light had gone out, problem should be stored. However they found nothing. Light comes on once a week, also get the EGR light sometimes as well!

I have noticed that just before the lights come on the idle drops and recovers, then up come the lights. I guess this engine has many sensors, so any clues or thoughts would be welcome!

I'm guessing but perhaps your alternator needs tightning or replacing - a drop in current can cause an ECU light to illuminate, and perhaps the drop in idle is attributable. This could be connected with the hot weather making the Climate Control work harder?

Hi thanks for that, it could be the aircon as i put it on on the motorway the other day, and seconds later! Will check out the alternator.... realised its ESP light and not EGR, but you all knew that!
