View Full Version : Accidental Bedfordshire Meet!
PaddyS was in a lay-bye on the A507 near Shefford using his mobile, so I hooked a 180 at the next roundabout, came back and pulled over!
We had a chat for a good half-hour and even the rain didn't stop us; we simply retired to the capacious A2 interior!
It was great to meet up with a fellow A2 enthusiast and we are both keen to get together at the Crown in Henlow and make a regular meeting.

Does anybody else want to join us or has anybody else who wants to join in got a better idea of where to meet
All A2's (and non-A2 owning enthusiasts, big or small, old or young) are welcome to join in.

It was certainly somewhat unplanned but good all the same.
There are certainly a lot of A2's around our area and it would be good to try and meet up. I would propose a saturday evening in a few weeks time....
All welcome - the Crown (which is more accurately in Langford rather than henlow but there you go) is about 40 mins from the south mims services on the M25 and about 20 mins from J12 or J13 of the M1.
Drop me or ULP a PM and we can go from there.

We're just organising this ourselves so why not do the same - find a couple of like-minded individuals in the area and pick a pub (or some other location!)

A Northern meet is on the cards - Spike and I are formulating a cunning plan at the moment for a not-too-distant event.
Keep 'em peeled all you Northerners!
Cheers,

That is wonderful - the location is not at all difficult to get to for anyone who can get near the M1 or A1 in this part of the world - yes, that includes members from the Anglia region too!

Paddys/ULP,
I may look to join you on 1st September as your chosen venue is not a million miles from Milton Keynes.:)
I might bring my wife and baby daughter, if there is no objection!!
I will keep you posted as to my availability - looks good at present though!!
Agree that it will be nice to finally put some faces to the names on the forum!!
Regards,
Darren
P.S. I like to think that I'm not that sad either - LOL!!;)
That's great Darren, and bring the misses and your daughter too, the more the merrier! If you do then Marie might attend but I wouldn't want her getting any mushy ideas...
I'm away in France until the end of August from now, but consider me in for this on the 1st Sept. at the Crown, just in case nobody gets a response from me for a while (which you won't) :D
Saw you the other night PaddyS, just on the Shefford side of the bridge over the railway line - I did wave but realised my arm was probably hidden by the A-pillar :P

ULP,
I hope that the trip to France is pleasure and not business related - either way enjoy your time away!!;)
As it stands at present, I am still ok for the 1st and I still intend to bring Mrs C and Junior, so it would be great if you could bring Marie.:)
Not sure where the crown is, but I am sure that it will be easy to find once I check a map!!
Look forward to meeting you!!:D
Regards,
Darren
France was a holiday trip - went to see the Millau viaduct and drink €1.16c bottles of red for a week... :)
Everyone still on for this Friday? It would be great to meet up with as many as possible

ULP,
Glad to hear that the trip was a success!! I trust that you are now an expert in the francais rouge - LOL!!:)
Just a couple of questions though about friday:
How easy is it to find the Crown from the M1? - (I haven't looked it up yet!!)
Do you know if I can actually bring my baby daughter, or are kids not allowed in the pub?
Are people planning on dining?
Looking forward to meeting up and checking out others A2's!! (Keen to see what the retro-cruise stalk looks like and how it operates - may then have a word in Skiptons ears).
Regards,
Darren:cool:
I'm probably not going to eat there, but I haven't got a problem nursing a lemonade while others do! I'm 99% sure kids are allowed, but I will check and advise.
It's easy to get to from Milton Keynes -
Head on the A421 to J13 and cross over the M1 at Bogbrough (deliberate mis-spelling). After crossing over, take the first right onto the A507. This will take you past the huge Amazon depot and after a few miles into Ridgement - turn left at the T-junction, which is still A507, and just keep on the A507 until you are a few miles from the A1 - pass Shefford and Lower Stondon and then turn left into Henlow; The Crown is about 50 yards on your right.
It is about 20 miles from MK.
Wooly, PaddyS are you still coming? I suspect 7pm is a good time of day - how does this feel with everyone (bearing in mind Darren has a baby and Wooly is travelling a bit)?
If anyone wants to PM me they can have my mobile number so that I can give directions or meet them if getting lost!

Thanks for the directions ULP - sounds very straight forward to find... (famous last words :o !).
I will PM you and we can exchange mobile numbers.
I will take the plunge and bring my little one, unless I hear otherwise.
On the time front, my daughter has no concept of time - 1, 2, 3 am etc... is "lets wake up mummy and daddy for a feed", so 7pm is fine by us!!
Thanks for the quick reply - look forward to meeting you!:)
Hope others can make it too!!
