Article in to-day's Independent (29/8;06) re an Autoglass commissioned report into the dangers of A pillars. 20 cars rated with the Audi A4 as best and Jeep Cherokee as the worst.

A2 is not included but for a second I thought that the interior shot photo illustrating the article was an A2. Maybe it's an A4 but it looks more like an MPV style and it looks like Audi trim and fittings. Were early A2s slightly different than the later ones?

P.S. Also article today where columnist suggests suitable vehicle in response to readers enquiry. Reader was looking for an fuel efficient & low emission vehicle suitable for long distance driving. Columnist suggested Smart-Four-Two or a Prius. I sent him an email saying should have looked at an A2 TDi though the max. price of £7K would be a challenge. See

That's definitely an A4 A pillar - note the lack of a front quarter light window as fitted to all A2s from the very start. Also, look how short the distance from air vent to windscreen is - bet you are hard pushed to touch the bottom of the screen from a seated position!

Cheers,

Mike

Oh yes, if it was an A2's A pillars, you wouldn't have seen the bike at all, or the bus behind it........

Oh, forgot about the quarter lights - obviously spending too much time trying to peer around the A pillar and focusing in the distance [grin]. I shall have to spend more time outside the car, just admiring it's looks! Having all my life treated cars as a box with 4 wheels that gets one from A to B, I'm still not used to having something special with my A2 :)
