View Full Version : Winter Pack

With the 2003 A2 I have just bought, the vendor has given me the original invoice from Lookers Audi.
One of the things which he has paid for was the Winter Pack. I was led to believe that the winter pack involves heated washer jets for the front headlights.
I have had Mrs Smick hold down the windscreen washer for 5 seconds with the headlights on but to no avail.
Can anyone tell me exactly what the Winter Pack is and if I am doing anything wrong to not have it working?

I nearly made that mistake when I ordered my A2.
Winterpack is heated wing mirrors, which are switch on when temp. is 5C or lower, or when rear window heater is switch on. AND heated windscreen washers.
Head light washers are a seperated/additional extra.
Hope that helps

That would make sense then. I was wondering what the chances of Lookers making some sort of refund several years down the line to a different owner was.
In Ireland there is little need for it all I am sure.

Winterpack is heated wing mirrors......... AND heated windscreen washers.
I've fitted heated wing mirror - bought them off someone in this group. They were easy to fit once I found a freezer de-icer scraper was ideal to prise out the old mirrors.
Is it an easy & cheap job to fit heated windscreen washers? That would be a "nice to have" feature.

Hi Alan
I fitted the later washer jets a while ago. I planned to fit the heated versions which were about £10 each at the time but could not find any pre-installed wiring for them - unlike the mirrors. See thread attached

Hi Spike,
That thread was written in 2003 but an interesting read none the less. I wonder if someone has worked out since then the wiring issue. If so, maybe this post will jog them to write it up.

I was told the same from the Audi dealer but found out later I also had a diesel heater (sprecher). Since I haven't found that listed as a separate item I guess that can be one of the items with the winter pack when you get the diesel engine. Diesel engines takes longer to get warm so I will like that feature. I'm pretty sure it's not warming the water in the engine though, just the vents when it's under a certain temp.
Strange heated seats is not included though.

Hi Robert, all diesel A2's come with an auxillairy cabin heater - earlier ones are electric and later ones are diesel.
My cousin's TDI 90 Sport has the winter pack and the impression I get from his description is that it heats the water in the tank rather then (or in addition to) the jets themselves. He reckons that rather than scraping the windscreen he just unlocks the car, the tank is heated and he can wash the ice of the screen.
It sounds a little odd to me but there you go...
