SE or not?

I have just bought a blue 2003 A2 1.4 TDi.

It has, amongst other things, alloys; digital climate control, concert stereo, load support system, winter pack, open sky. It was ordered to be debadged.

Looking at the invoice from Lookers, it does not say SE on it but shows extras paid for all of the above.

Is it possible / likely that the original owner has bought a base model and then added all the extras on?

Can anyone think of a surefire way to know if it is an SE or not? I have informed the insurers that it is.

An SE had the following equipment over the base model:

- 6Jx16 six spoke alloys
- Concert II radio
- Door sill trims
- Front & Rear mats
- Front fogs
- Illuminated vanity mirrors
- Leather handbrake cover
- Leather gear knob & gaiter
- Leather rimmed steering wheel
- Luggage compartment floor

All the options you mention were probably added (bar the wheels/radio).

Have all of those things which you mentioned. The invoice actually has an extra paid for the Symphony stereo although the seller assured me it is Symphony 2. Either way, it has a great sound.

Alloys are six spokes although he has definitely paid extra for them.

He also put a Superchip in. A fantastic car.

Must be an SE then.

Symphony II is a double DIN unit and can hold up to 6 CD's at a time, I agree it does sound good but sounds even better with the BOSE system.

Yeah, it takes 6 CDs through the front loading slot.

The options paid for were

Auto Dip Rear View Mirror @£106.38
Cruise @£253.62
DIS @£174.47
Electronic Climate Control @£680.85
Heated Front Seats @£225.32
Load Safety System @£59.57
Metallic Paint @£404.26
Open Sky System @£651.06
Sports Seats @£131.92
Symphony @£225.53
Winter Pack @£89.36
Boot Liner @£57.99

All plus VAT.

As well as £450 inc. VAT to Alan Jeffrey to install a Superchip to increase bhp to 103.4 @ 3693rpm.

I will sort out some photos soon

He told me he wasn't told about the BOSE system by the dealer
