I have just had fitted a Pioineer DEH55BT, head unit to replace the standard and broken Chrous, the head unit is excellent and i am well pleased with it, however, the radio reception is not that strong. I have read somewhere that the standard audi units have some sort of amplifer for the aerial built into them.

can i correct this? or do i just have to put up to a crap radio?

cheers

John

you need to fit an aerial adapter such as this one:

They are readily available from the usual outlets and work a treat.

Ahh, that's why I had so bad reception on my previous A2. (Blaupunkt aftermarket stereo fitted).

You'd be surprised just how many people think that they can just slot in a DIN-compliant headunit to replace the factory one and it'll work, just like that (especially if it's a German make such as Blaupunkt in a German car).

My previous car was a 1980 Saab 900 so I guess I need to adapt myself to the new generation :-)
