I went to the old weathertec.co.uk website and tried to order ombrello. The domain has been down for a while so I did a bit of searching and found http://www.shopcreator.com/mall/Weathertec/products/topsellers-1.stm

They *seem* to have migrated their site to another domain and still have the A2OC page http://www.shopcreator.com/mall/Weathertec/A2OC.htm

The phone number rang but no answer, so I'm not sure if they're still in business. Or if this website is real. I'll try to email/ring the contact details on the page again. For anyone looking for Ombrello, you may want to update your bookmark!

Hi humps
There is some Audi stuff (probably repackaged Ombro) on e.bay at the moment - see link

AutoExpress has just tested glass treatment products and Halfords own brand rain repellant came out top with a 5 star rating. Ombrello got 3 stars, possibly because of its high cost
For those still wanting the original, contact info for Ombrello is tel 01234 273388, web site www.b-hepworth.com

Cheers Spike

Well, I just tried the web page above and there is not a trace of Ombrello. They sell industrial wiper systems so maybe the do market Ombrello as well - or maybe Auto Express got the contact info wrong.
Found another link - http://www.rejel.com/home/acatalog/Rejel_Automotive_Ombrello_32.html

You could also try http://www.drwhitesnake.com/ who sell Aquapel who claim it is also marketed as umbrello. I might give it a try as its on £9.99

I've used the Half*rds screen stuff for quite some time and found it to be quite good.

It seems to last for about three weeks before it needs to be re-applied. It would last longer but driving to and from work in the dark these days means there's lots of road spray over the winscreen and the screen wash is quite harsh on the coating (Comma X-Stream).

As a soon to be A2 owner I was wondering how people found the H*lfords coating against the Audi stuff and Ombrello - which is the best/lasts the longest?

Cheers

Hi glock17
I used the Audi stuff (which is probably repackaged Ombrello) on the side windows and rear screen but it was only a couple of months ago so I cannot really confirm its staying power. Hardest bit was getting the glass ultra clean before application. It took 3 goes with Halfords intensive glass polish (not the squirty stuff which is useless) before I got rid of the greasy streaks which are visible when you 'breath' on the glass.

Auto Express did a test recently but only for a 3 week trial so maybe Ombrello did not have chance to prove its staying power -see link
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/203940/rain_repellents.html

Another car mag also did a test, but did not include Ombrello. Mer came out best in that one

Cheers Spike

Just tested the link and it does not work. The info can be accessed without regestering by going on their web site and looking for rain repellents in the products section

I've had umbrello on mine for about 1.5yr. As far as the all important rear screen goes, it can probably last for another 6 months. So I think umbrello does have strong staying power. And I followed Spike's ebay link and got the audi stuff. I can confirm the content has exact package as umbrello so I would not be surprised if they are the same thing, except the audi pack comes with two moist tissue wipes for cleaning the glass and they are useless as they leave foam on the glass and you need another piece of cloth to wipe the glass dry afterwards.
