Hi all!

Im having a weird 'groan' coming from the NSR brake caliper on the A2.
I hate to think its the caliper sticking, anybody any ideas?
Would it be something under warranty perhaps, or a simple repair.

Sounds like a sticky caliper to me - get it looked at before you crack a disc or it locks up completely!

Possibly a stone stuck in the disc shield too, but that's more metallic sounding.

Cheers,

Mike

hi a2 look
is your hand break high if so it points to a sticky caliper common on rear discs on vw& audi

Hi, thanks for the replys

yes the handbrake is a little high on the car. Does this mean a new caliper? What can be done with it? The groan is slight, just as you pull off, but no doubt it will get worse. Are these the same as A3 calipers on the rear?

Thanks again :)

Calipers can be stripped and cleaned quite effectively - you'll just need new seals (pretty cheap) and to re-bleed the system when done. There's no need to go down the new caliper road.

hi its robin
as mike says u can strip down the rear calipers but try wd40 on the hand break part of your caliper
it should be free to move by hand
or if still in warranty let audi do it for you.
