Hello All

I have had a quick chat with Wooly and would like to know if there is any interest for a camping trip in 2007 somewhere in the Midlands to try and keep it central.

The idea would be to spend a weekend (jncluding Friday for those who want to/ can) at a location that has a few events and things for all the family.

At the moment I have no specific date, but would be looking at early summer (ideally June) to avoid the main holiday season but try and get some warm (although not always dry!) weather.

Your support and thoughts are greatly appreciated - once we see if there is enough interest we will get a date in the diary and a location.

Please put down on your response if there are any dates at this time that you can't do so that we can work around as best as possible!

Hmmmmm...

From the lack of interest, it looks like my back garden will be space-enough to pitch the tents...

Hi ULP
Wooly was talking about going to GTI International next year (It's in May I think)
This is a 2 day event with loads going to keep the whole family interested. If its of interest, maybe you could check out the camping facilities.

This Sunday, I could swear a few people grumbled they might come camping...

Time to register some interest then!

Bearing in mind the spread of the country etc. I have two plans; either:

1) Somewhere in the Midlands with lots to do, such as Billing Aquadrome in Northamptonshire.

or

2) The Lake District where there is plenty to see and a trip to the Windermere Steam Boat Museum is a must.

Any thoughts? I'm aware the Lakes are quite a distance as I reckon a weekend is more than sufficient (5 hours for me and there are quite a few owners for who the journey would be longer).

I'd be interested. Apologies, but I missed your initial post ...

I try to keep up with the new posts on the forum, but it's been a hectic week ...

Count Ang and I in - not been camping in ages (about 25 years actually), so a couple of nights under canvas should be a hoot!

Cheers,

Mike

A little tip from a seasoned camper, go for the sites with 'good loo' awards, might sound petty but it makes a hell of a difference to the enjoyment factor, also try and get a site with a good pub within walking distance, I may join you with the family assuming you will allow a non A2 owning co-owner to be with you!

Chris,

I do believe that you did in fact manage to convert a few 'camping virgins' on Sunday, so it looks a distinct probability now as opposed to a possibilty when you first posted!!:)

The idea has grown on Di and I and we would be up for it also, though we would have to seriously consider the practicalities of bringing Kayleigh. (Still I am sure that her grandparents will be willing baby sitters).

Although the Lake District would be a long drive; having never been, I would very much like to give it a go. Travel up on the Friday and return either mid afternoon on the Sunday or on the Monday and it would break up the run. Throw in some nice weather, (I must stop this, before I get tagged as "Michael Fish"), a local pub or two and fellow A2OC'ers and a summer camping trip sounds like a recipe for success!!:D

Roll on the summer...

Cheers,

Darren

Its great to see some interest in this ,
I Have been camping for a couple of seasons now ,
and although not everyones cup of tea ,
what can beat waking up early in the morning
,sitting down reading the paper and smelling that fresh county air,
with a little hint of Bacon and Eggs on the camp stove ..

:) Sounds good to me. It will depend on the date but I've always wanted to go to the lake district and pitch the tent.:)
