View Full Version : intermittent grinding noise on gear change

this noise is very intermittent ie.twice a week maybe,usually when cold and only when crossing the box diagonally ie.2nd gear to 3rd gear.anybody have experience of this or know any cures.thanx

there have been comments on the forum about problems with the flywheel assembly which terminates gearboxes( i think) best thing to do is get down and chcked out properly i hope you are still in warranty

Once the weather gets cold my gearbox occasionally 'grates' when changing between first and second. I have always assumed it was the drag of the cold oil making the synchromesh work extra hard. If the gearchange is timed to perfection the gear speed differential is minimal and there is no noise.

no im well outside of warranty.02 reg with 168 k on the clock. but this is so intermittent that i will probably have to put up with it. thanx anyway
