Noisy fan

Yesterday the fan in the climate controll unit of my A2 started to make a loud noise.

Does this mean that the fan is broken, or can it be other reasons for the noise?

How diffucult is it to replace the fan? Does it mean that you have to dissambel the whole dashboard?

If you mean the little fan inside the control box, then it's a relatively straightforward fix.

Audi don't supply spares, but it's just a standard 12volt 4cm fan, so any electronics retailer should be able to help.

Then I missunderstood. I thought you mean the fan for the Mainair to cool the inside of the car. This one must be as big as the filter is. Ah, I see you had been talking the control box and that's his problem. I was wrong then.
