I have purchased a VAG-COM compatible cable from Gendan.[URL="http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VAG409.html"]
I have located what i think is the OBDII connector in the driver footwell yet i cannot plug the connector in to it as there isnt enough clearance to plug it straight in. Is this the wrong cable? Or do i need to take the dash apart to plug it in?

Sounds like you either have the wrong cable, or you need to get the knack of how it fits.
There is absolutely no need to remove anything to fit the diagnosic cable to the connector, so get your head down to the level and have a close look at the state of play down there - it'll almost certainly fit with a bit of wiggling.
Cheers,
Mike

The problem seems to be that where the plug i have widens it hits the plastic trim surrounding the port of the car preventing a connection being made. Damn cars!

Hi morris
The VagCom web site does warn about this problem which I think is worse with some of their competitors interface cables. - see link
Have you contacted Gendan for advice or a swap for another make of cable

Gendan have got back to me. Apparently Audi didnt adhere to the EOBD regs and fitted fascia to tightly around the diagnostic port. Guess i have one of those cars.
Solution is an extension lead with smaller connector or the next model up which again has a smaller connection.
