Hi Adam,
Having fitted a few kits now, I can tell you that the only way to go is with a Dension kit.
The Dension stuff is well supported, is upgradeable and transferrable, should the unthinkable happen and you sell the A2!!!
The genuine Audi kit is actually a Dension kit in disguise, with a custom-written bit of software which shows the 4 ring logo on startup.
If you don't want any holes, then go for a Plummer mount, which places the iPod next to the gearstick. If you decide to mount it in the glovebox, there will need to be a hole drilled to pass the cable into the glovebox, although this won't be visible on the outside.
Cheers,
Mike

The plummer mount is available separately from www.plummer.co.uk and for a matching leather console, you're looking at about £40.
I have always dealt with IpodCarKitDirect (www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk) as they are quite quick and very competitive on price (standard kit comes in at £100 delivered, with cradle).

I think my mount is a brodit which clips next to the gear lever, on it I have satnav and a mobile phone clip. I'm sure you could mount an ipod instead.

Hi, is there any advantage of using one of the FM transmitters fitted to the ipod, then no installation at all, or is the quality not there. I believe they come legal in January.

If you use a proper (Dension/Audi) interface, then you can charge the iPod whilst it is playing and you can control the iPod from either the headunit or from the MFSW.
Plummer do both left and right hand drive mounts too.
Cheers,
Mike
After having a look around at the reviews of the fm transmitters I have bought the Kensington one. I have to admit to being very impressed with the sound.

I used them but they supplied the wrong wiring harness first off. If you can remove the head unit, check how many pins in the connector at the back. Took them 3 weeks to sort, but at that time everything was going wrong for me. Still can't remove the bloody head unit.
