If you wanted original Audi parts, here's the quote they gave me....
Single CD unit (to fit dashboard) £617.0
6 CD changer for the boot (this included all items) £980.0
However if you fit the cd changer yourself £500.0 (this included all items)

If you've got the original Chorus radio you cannot attach a CD changer to it. The second Chorus can - its got a CD button to differentiate it.
The Concert single CD head unit also came in 2 versions and you need the right one for your car beacause of the introduction of CANbus wiring in the later cars. You occasionally see Concert radios on Ebay.
Depends how much you want to retain the OEM look. Much cheaper to have a decent ICE store fit another head unit - but be careful if you have the later CANbus wiring.

thanks for your comments ive priced up a 6x cd changer and lead at halfords 230.00 all in .so i can keep the original look and operate cd from radio and that includes fitting.but a bit worried about if they will do it properly and not damage any intricate electronics.which will later affect warranty.but saying all that only been with my a2 silver open sky.on drive home ,as brake lights failed and has been in audi garage since .problem found a relay switch but took alot of finding.so dont really know if it is compatable with my chorus as i have not looked at manual yet.2001 y reg.

A few thing you may want to consider.
1, Where are they fitting the CD changer. I ask because the proposed position by Audi requires a bracket that fits above the drivers side rear wheel (UK). This in turn requires the CD changer to have the in-built 62.5/67.5 (can't remember which) degree shock mountings.
2, If you have an SE spec A2 then you might find you are limited to where you can fit the CD changer.. two false floors etc..
3, Check that they use the correct screws if the CD changer is to be fitted to any body panel as the incorrect ones will cause corrosion of the alu..(oxidation)
4, The electrical connection at the back of the head unit may also cause problems as the standard connection block is used for the additional CD changer wires, IF you cut this off then there WILL be problems with warrenty...
Hope this helps a little
