My A2 developed a coolant leak - at first I thought it to be a faulty sensor but after checking the coolant after each journey it was clearly dropping. As the car is well within warranty it's now at the dealers while I'm driving around in a rather nice A4 1.9 TDI S-Line courtesy of Audi.
The dealer has been on the phone today - apparently it requires a new thermostat housing and No.2 Coil pack (which has to be shipped from Germany). Not ideal to be without the car over Xmas and New Year but can't fault the general response from Audi. Top marks so far.
That's odd. This is precisely the same two problems I have with my A2 1.6 FSI - except that the coil went on cylinder 4. My thermostat housing gets fixed tomorrow.
Perhaps there is an A2 thermostat/coil destroyer on the loose...

Coil packs!
As posted several times before I've had a few fitted. Audi Bradford told me that coil packs tend to fail when the weather gets colder. But the good news is that there is a newer version which is more reliable, certainly I've had no further problems since all mine were replaced last Feb.
One important point is the extended warranty offered by Audi for coil pack -5 years from first registration.

:( well folks my A2 1.6fsi 04 also needs a thermostat housing! Audi carried out a pressure test today after i told them that i suspected that the car was leaking coolant. See picture below. Its not that clear but the area around the gasket and facing was wet. My first clue was the damp patch on the floor!

An update - Had the car back for nearly a week now. Get in it this morning and guess what - Coolant warning light. No time to check the level as I had to run to station to catch a train. Will whip the bonnet off tonight when I get in from work and it's going to be straight back to Audi for them to try again.......
