Rear bench seat

Anyone got a rear bench seat option on their A2?

If so is yours really hard to lower?

I know it works fine as this was something the dealer showed me when I bought the car. Typically, the first time I needed to drop the rear seat over christmas period I couldn't budge it. Plus I'll also want to remove the seat entirely in the next few weeks to get some extra space

It's probably my operator error/stupidity, but any tips gratefully accepted (with the exception of "read the manual", which btw seems wilfully obscure on the subject to me):D

Hi Zola - as mjs say's, you have to be a bit brutal. I got to the point where the handle at the base of the seat-back was bending, leaving me with visions of it snapping but a bit of wriggling and shaking should get it out. The bolts that locate the bench into the sockets are on the extreme of the cables, so you need to pull ruddy hard!

Then you have repeat exercise putting it back in although in true Chris style, I had about five goes doing it gently followed by slamming it with all the effort of a Russian Shot Putter, which worked.

yes be careful, i took mine ot the other day and you do have to be strong to do it . Then the hard part is lifting it out as mine weighs a tonne. I scuffed the pull up handles when putting it back in too.

I don't know if this works with the bench seat but the single seats seem to unlock better if you press down hard on the folded backrest while pulling up on the handle. Same applies to refitting, again press down on the folded backrest (headrest end) while pushing the base prongs into place - they seem to latch in easier this way
No need to join a gym - just remove the seat 3 times per day

Don´t be brutal! You will damage the secure mechanism in the seat.
Spike is right. You need to unlock the back rest first. Then push the back rest down. In folded position you need to push the back rest further down against the cushion foam while unlocking the seat with the handle in the middle of the seat.
If you want to put the seat back into the car you need to be sure the the rear locking mechanism is really locked. Otherwise you can not lift the back rest up again. This was realized by the secure mechanism mentioned above. Audi thought this is necessary to avoid that passanger sit on an unlocked seat.
If you have the non splitted rear bench I would recommend to look for somebody to help you. One pushes the back rest down while the other one unlockes the seat from the rear. To avoid back pane you need another person anyway to get the seat out of the car.
