Yes the day has come where my un-blemished driving record has ended. BMW 5 series hit me on the way to work today. He pulled out of a junction and hit my passanger front corner/wing.

Damage to bumper, bonnet bent and fixings broke. Passanger light/fog/wing/arch.

Got faults on DIS with Stearing and Brakes?? Being recovered to Nationwide garage today :( What do we recon guys, fixable?

Cars an SE with Sports Seats and a few extras, now done 60K?

Can't believe it!!!!

Yeh I'm fine, its just gutting. Really don't want to part with it.

Thinking about it the damage is quite heavy, looking back through the forum I've seen A2's written off for alot less when visually compared with mine :( In the even it is written off is there any bits that people want recovering? Parcel shelf blind? I have a full set of 16" SE wheels with Pirelli P6000's from memory on....

I'll take some pics!

That is bad luck, but at least you are OK - metal, be it aluminium or steel is easily replaced.

So long as the monocoque isn't damaged it should be fine but the front legs (there what the wing is attached too) might need replacing. However, from your description it only 'bolt on' bits.

Also worth considering buying-back if written off. My cousin's fiance, who works for the ombudsman, tells me most insurance companies now right-off when the damage is 50% of the cars value as they don't wish to risk escilating costs if there are a few unforseen issues. A mate of mine did this a few years ago and with the pay-out and whay he bought the car back for, he made a few quid!

Also, you can always get another A2...

Ouch!

I remember having an Audi communication last year regarding accidents and that they claimed that you do have a choice in who makes the repair to your car. In effect they were ensuring that an Audi dealer did the work.

May be worth thinking about, who does the repair!

Wretched Bimmas. I had a similar incident in a Fiat many years ago. A Bimma once again. It was much less sturdy than the A2 though.

I hope it is fixable - if not - then there are still good cars out there to buy... I'll send complimentary A2OC merchandise if you have to replace it.

Hi Primea2,

Really sorry to hear your news, and I sincerely hope your A2 is fixable.

I had a Renault Clio do a similar job on the drivers side almost exactly 2 years ago. Car was fixed and touch wood, has been okay since. I experienced the symptoms you describe with your A2. My front wheel ended up inclined at an alarming angle, but was still attached and working.

The other party's insurer arranged for a loan car while mine was being fixed. It was a Vauxhall Corsa with an easytronic gearbox, which was interesting... Delighted when I got my A2 back.

John.

Arr.....just got back from Snowboarding in France to discover my A2 is to be written off. Apparently the front SP Frame is twisted from the impact. In a word, gutted. I'm looking into another one already (Got back just now!) really, really mad at the BMW man now!! If I havnt already mentioned I'm driving around to and from leeds in a Nissan Note..really makes you appreciate a good 1.4TDI Vs 1.4 Note petrol, note a patch on my A2!! Cheers Guys,

Everyone who drives a BMW should be shot oh no wait I've got one too. Bad luck, plenty of good A2s to buy at the moment, just hope you don't lose too much time or money. Chin up and all that.

Like ULP said, a car is replaceable :)

Will your insurance pay up for a new car?

Sorry to hear of your accident. Just the other day I saw a BMW that had hit a pedestrian, at a crossing...

Regarding insurance I know some people choose to have 'gap' insurance nowadays but if you are on a comprehensive policy is it still possible to insist on a like-for-like replacement? Or was that an urban myth?

I'm sorry to hear that your A2 is terminal - it happened to me some years ago with a Honda I was very fond of. I still haven't forgiven the truck driver, even after 9 or 10 years....

Still, to be mercenary, are your wheels looking for a new home.......
