I waited for the brake wear indicator to do it's job before replacing the front pads, Jason at Lion VW showed me the pads when I picked it up today, the pad with the indicator had 4-5mm left and the worst worn one had only 1-1.5mm left. This meant that the metal backing plate was touching the shoulders of the disc under braking, not ideal!!
