What exactly is Satellite cloth?

Looking at the extras list my "new" car came with, this was one of the factory fitted extras on the bill of sale. Why was it an option? I mean it's still cloth? If rather nice. Cheers, Mark

Satellite cloth was an upgrade fabric, over the standard Sirrus (sometimes called Sinus) cloth.

It has a different weave pattern and different appearance - that's about it really.

Thanks for that Spike, so was the Satellite the only cloth that was an option?
If so i'm still none the wiser why you would pay £150 more for a different cloth option, i mean its not like its leather? Is it a heavier grade?

There was also a Jaquard Satin cloth option, but this was only for sport seats.

As for why you'd pay £150 for a different kind of cloth, dunno! I s'pose some folks wanted an option apart from basic colour (gray, black, beige etc) so Audi offered another pattern. If the Satellite cloth is any heavier duty than the Sirrus, I can't say my bum has ever detected the difference!

Never underestimate the ability of a German manufacturer to charge you extra for either a) something that should be standard or b) something you don't really need but fancy anyway.

You paid for the seat pockets!!! Satellite has rear seat pockets on the front seats... Normal seat fabric did not get that.
