I had planned to wire my nuvi 360 into the lights above the rear view mirror so the unit would sit high beside the rear view and I wouldn't have a cable trailing around the dash. The coonector for the sat nav would then come out through a hole drilled beside the passenger sun visor (previous owners' work).
It's a 12v supply which is then stepped down to 5v DC.
I did all the wiring taking the feed from the lights. The problem is the unit that does the stepping down draws power.
If the ignition is on there is no problem and/or when the lights are on there is no problem. As soon as either is switched off there is a relay somewhere in/behind the glove box that's constanly opening and closing every second, not good for the relay.
Does anybody have any suggestions of a work around and/or any wiring diagrams?
Any suggestions of alternatives would also be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
