I should think that your only chance of getting the original code is to go to an Audi dealer with your registration documents etc. and ask them to get the code from the factory. No doubt they will charge for the service....

You do see people advertising decoding for head units - but that feels a bit dodgy to me, somehow.

Random thought - have you checked in the Owners manual wallet? The original code was on a tear off slip inside I believe...

On the inside of the stereo manual cover were the radio card number is next to that its says
If you lose the radio card with code no please contact an audi dealer. Assistance will be provided free of charge.

I've not tried to get the code from them. i just remembered it was in the manual about getting the code back as the manual was to hand i quoted what they have printed. i would imagine it would be difficult for a dealer to charge you if you stated it said it was free in the manual.

its not a piece of paper its the corner of the manaul a tear of section the size of a credit card. This card is part of the front cover of the stereo manual.

Audi stealer will definitely do it for nothing, I have the same problem with my A4, no code, SKF said bring it in we hook up to germany and get the code, I suppose it would depend on you having the original radio unit still fitted though!
