I have four keys and have tried them with the flat side up and flat side down and just poked them down the side hoping something would evenrually click, but nothing.

They are genuine Audi ones, what am I doing wrong, I have never done this before, and thought it would be self explanitory?

Put them in as noted on the key itself, if I remember right the longer part is on the inside, they will click when fully home, the unit will then just pull out, remember to release thekeys you will have to remove before putting the unit back in

There is nothing written on the keys? From what you are saying do I use them horizontally down the side rather than flush?

OK worked it out the keys do not go down the side but stick into 4 holes on the front of the radio. I have taken the unit out fine now.

But for your entertainment, now I have put the stereo back I can't remove the keys! Help it looks ridulous and tempting to theives!

The small knive from Schweitzer Taschenmesser (Victorinox) /Swiss pocket knife works perfect as well. With the sharp side to the outer side. (on the left, to the left and on the right side to the right).
But do you have four knifes? :D
I have two, that's enough for me;)
