Does anyone know of an approved towbar for the Audi A2?

I went into Shrewsbury Audi last week and have been quoted £594.23 for a detachable Audi towbar-single electrics-fitted
Is this a reasonable price???

Hi Charles, welcome to the A2oc
Audi list a towbar in their accessory brochure (£260) -see link. It's quite a complex job but one of our club members fitted one some time ago and published some pics of the various stages - do a search on 'towbar' for more info

Cheers Spike

No need to search - Just found the link to SKYMAN's excellent photos

Just had the Audi approved towbar fitted to my A2.

Twas £580 all in - and the amount of time it took and the number of technicians on it :) is why it is so expensive.

Love it tho - very useful!

I seem to recall seeing previous comments on this forum that you can really "feel" the extra weight of a towbar. What's your view on it?

I'm interested as I'm looking at having one fitted.;)

I have to say never noticed extra weight, you want to lift the mounts the aluminium crumple bar are attached too, now they are heavy. I must say anyone looking to put a towbar on their A2 will not regret it, i havent calculated it but i don't think the little extra weight will affect MPG significantly. Mines a petrol after all TDI's should be negligable.

Gexx,

have you any pictures of the tow bar, I would be interested in how Audi cut the black cowling ( if indeed they did ) at the rear to get the tow bar to fit.
