Hi

Recently suffered the oil consumption issue that all A2's have in common. The Oil Minimum level Warning came on , so went to Halfords to top it up.Its now had just over a litre & the light still comes on.With the orange dipstick its basically impossible to verify whether there's too much oil & i'm kinda happy with my oil free catalytic converter (hehe) , does anyone know exactly how much oil i can put in (after the warning light comes on) before i do damage.Previous forums from 2004 - 2005 reckon 1.5 litres..any help would be appreciated. i have a 2002 1.4 SE petrol engine. Cheers

Hi
The oil level sensors have been known to fail (see link) so be careful not to overfill the engine with oil. I know the oil level on petrol cars is almost impossible to check accurately but have you tried taking the dipstick out completely, leaving the car on level ground overnight then checking it next morning.
