Hi everyone,

Wondered if anyboyd knows how to do this?
As you know the A2 has the flip/open key fob, basically my is a bit battered with the corners all scrapped and chunks missing (my dogs have had a bite into it) and lets just say its not very nice looking right now.

I've been looking at replacement key fobs on ebay and wondered how do i go taking it apart and move the 'inside bits and brains of the alarm + immobiliser' across into the new housing (exact same key fob). Has anyone done this before or know how I can do this??

Any help would be most appreciated..

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the A2OC.

The only problem with your suggestion is that the bit that holds the key blade is pretty much sealed, to prevent damage to the immobiliser transponder.

The rest of the key (the bulk of it) can be changed in exactly the way you suggest.

Basically, split the electronics part from the blade part using a flat screwdriver in the back slot. Then simply split the electronics part with a sharp knife and extract the gubbins and transfer them to the new key.

You will have to re-match the key with the car following this, but this has been covered many times - just do a search for key matching.

Cheers,

Mike

PS Don't let the dog drive in future!

Anybody have the newer style keyfob (the one shaped like a wedge)? Can this be used for the A2?
