After posting a few questions here and doing a bit of a net investigation I have finally chosen a solution and gone with it.
I went for a Brodit ipod cradle with Auxillery out and Cig Lighter charger lead. I then got a lead to change the male mini jack into two phono connectors. This is then plugged into my DAB Adaptors AUX IN. The cradle is mounted on a proclip mount.
I also have an Acoustic Solutions ICS 100 ipod adaptor, this comes in two parts a blackbox hidden away and a pod with the display and buttons on it. The aerial it comes with is a class mounted Stump, which is quite discreet and seems to do the business. The ipod Aux out phonos plug in the AUX in and the AUX Out plugs into a Connects2 (CTVADX001) Aux Adapter which plugs in the back of my symphony and pretends to be a CD Changer with 1 disk and 1 track. You can also use the aerial as a line in, but AUX adaptor is better.
Opertation is easy with the ICS 100, with a wheel to select your station. Pressing the power button switches it to AUX mode, pressing again switches it off.
Sound Quality is amazing and it is easy to use.

And I think if you went the aftersales route you would have difficulty beating this price for and ipod/dab solution and probably would have worse sound quality. I am very happy ;-) If you need more details let me know
