View Full Version : TDI 90 Sport for sale
Right, my cousin's fiance has decided to sell, he wants a TT.
The car is as follows:
December 2003 '53' A2 1.4TDI (90) Sport
47,000 miles.
2 Owners.
Full Service History (serviced at 24,000 miles and probably due one shortly at about 50,000-ish).
MOT 'till mid December, tax 'till May
Silver with black matrix cloth (the nice one, not the one with diagonal lines)
Usual Sport Specification plus:
Interior light pack (map reading lights, illuminated interior mirrors and rear interior light, from memory)
Winter pack (heated washer jets and mirrors)
Parking distance control
Climate control
Bench Seat
He drives it about 25 miles to work and back each day so it get's well-used. It's a nice condition car although a few of the alloys need a good spruce-up.
He intends to buy a used TT as soon as he has a buyer committed to his car, so you might need to wait a couple of weeks while he sorts out the new car.
He is looking at £8,600 but is willing to talk-turkey on the subject.
Please PM me if you wish to be put in-contact.

Hi could you either post or email me some pictures by any chance??,
thembc@tiscali.co.uk .
Also where is the car located.
Does it have anything else like DIS or elec rear windows??.
And can you confirm its in the £35 a year RFL bracket please.
Also can anyone tell me what is involved in a 50k service please and
is 47k high for a 53 plate??
Thanks Andy.
email about to be sent, but the answer to your questions for everyone's info is:
It has DIS, all Sport models do, but it doesn't have 'leccy rear windows - only the options noted.
The second VSI service (which is what it needs sometime) is a standard one the same as the first one but this might be the time to think about the cambelt as the car gets closer to 60,000 miles - this is about £350 from your friendly Audi stealer, and the service is about £270. The brake fluid was changed at the last service which was late 2005 (from memory, the first VSI called them in at 2yrs.). So it will need a service soon-ish and, dependant on mileage you use it for a brake fluid change and cambelt change later in the year. I'll find out the exact mileage to service.
It is, like all TDI's, in the 'Band B' RFL bracket.
47K is above average for a car that's 40 months old but hardly deathly - the important thing is the car is driven on a decent journey between Hitchin and Milton Keynes ever day, so get's fully warmed up. I'd personally rather have this than a low-mileage car that has never been warmed through.
I have asked my cousin's fiancee to do me some piccies so that I can post them.
Oh, and I also put Osram Silverstar bulbs on it for them too. No fog lights before anyone asks!
As promised, loads of piccies - David Bailey Andrew 'aint!
He tells me the VSI indicates 9000 miles to the next service, not the 3000 or-so I originally thought. There is no warranty left but thus far it is all fine and dandy.
I have to say it's a lovely car (naturally). The private plate doesn't come with the car.
He is now in a position to sell as soon as you like but he is also able to wait a little while if you are in a position where you need to sell a car, so for all you A2 enthusiasts that want a 1.4TDI 90 Sport, contact me and I'll pass you on.

Well thanks Chris (ULP) ,Kelly and little Tegan and I went along to view the car and thought it was just what we wanted- looked fab and clean and seller (Andrew) was a nice bloke so we were able to strike a deal, so we are now poor and living on bread and water for a couple of months:D .
Due to my stupid bank not letting me have all the cash out( they limit you to £2500 per day-even when its booked!!)we now have to go back friday to be him up(His name will be "Ollie":o ).
So we are excited and looking forward to friday- and not just cos of the Easter Bunny!!:p .
So just to warn you all(especially Skipton) that I will be picking brains soon!!.
Thanks to everyone who have advised over the last few months.
Ps Ive already ordered my two club stickers:cool:
Regards Andy.
PPs Anyone wanna buy a 98 A4??

Nice one Andy - you've got a cracker there judging by the photos and I daresay Andrew will soon be in his new TT, so everyone's happy!
Here's hoping that Ollie will be a good car for you and that you'll have many happy years together.
Cheers,
Mike
Great news Andy, and I think you both got a decent price as vendor and purchaser.
As you have seen, it is a nice car in a great specification - as you have also seen, retaining a private plate is a pain in the 'arris!
I will be around Friday although I'm writing one of my assignments - give me a call when you get near-by and I'll come over and meet you. They have loved their A2 when they only had one car for the family, but now Kim (my cousin) has a company Golf they don't need two 'proper' cars. Andrew's always been a convertible/ coupe kind of guy at heart hence the TT.

Will call you on your mobe when we get near to Andrew's.

Well Yippeeee we got "Ollie" and we are loving him!!.
Got to put my club stickers in his two quarter windows tomorrow morning and then go through him with a fine toothcomb.
On the list for starters will be a sparewheel or spacesaver thingy whatever you call it and a bood floor to cover it and what ever else I need to do that job!!??(answers pls).
Other things in time would be a Skipton Armrest and Cruise and an odments tray thingy under the handbrake.
Also cup holders in the rear and eventually a pair of roof bars and a box.
Also does anyone know where I can get the chrome ring from to go arround the gearstick pls??.
Oh yes and any other sugestions please.
Regards Andy.
It was good to met-uop with you today Andy - I have to say that I'm upset to see 'Ollie' leave our family but glad to see an enthusiast take him and I know you will look after him.
Don't forget, A2OC goes canping on the 6th July...
Went out for a spin in Andrews 'new' TT - some chappie in a new BMW 330 E92 coupe thought we wanted a race and was egging us on - we were just cruising and laughed it off. I guess TT owners get that alot!

Hi Andy
VagParts list the gearstick ring (about £17+vat) and can also supply most of the other goodies you want. If you got the Club discount card with your window stickers, you can use it at VagParts providing you pre register with them before ordering - and save an extra 10%.
Retrofitting the boot floor may be tricky as the side supports for the new floor require different inner wheel arch trim panels which have cut-outs to locate them. If you'r brave, it may be possible to mark and cut your existing trims rather than buy new ones. To get an idea of what's involved in removing the boot trim panels, check out the CD changer fitting guide on the forum

Chris yes Ollie will get looked after defo!!, I wouldnt have raced a beemer either-an Audi has nothing to prove against a BMW!!.
Cant do camping sadly as will be working the friday and anyway it would take me over 5 hours to get there from my home!!, However I am hoping to attend Castle Combs day, do you know who will be there??-Will you mate? and Spike and Skipton??, Would love Skipton to be able to retro fit cruise for me on the day if poss.
Spike are you going to Castle Combs??,and thanks for info on VAG, hadny noticed anything about them:o .
I only bought window stickers but will look into getting the discount card too!! asap, do Vagparts have a website as I like to see what I'm getting before I buy, also need to know if these things can be fitted by an idiot:o .
Any other ideas gratefully recieved.
Also I like the idea of someking of sport badges on the side-something like the "S" line ones but they would have to be in common with the car if you know what I mean.
Just a thought, would it be poss to make up a false floor to cover the spacesaver spare ??,
Something like a sheet of strong wood cut to correct shape and size with some side supports and covered with a black carpet or something??.
Thanks all,
Regards Andy.

I will indeed be attending ADI this year (touch wood!) and will be doing cruise fits for those that want them (pre-booking and a deposit will be needed though). If there's anyone attending the camping trip, I can oblige then too!
Armrests will not be on offer just yet - I need to assess whether the bracket is up to scratch before releasing them into the wild!
Cheers,
Mike

BTW you have any idea for me regarding getting a spacesaver spare and false floor in the boot please.
I defo want /need a spacesaver spare in case of emmergency would not be willing to rely on a stupid can !!.

Check if any of the breakers on ebay have the split load boot lining. You could then store the space saver on the bottom layer with plenty of space left. I could pm you a pic of the splt load boot if you ve not seen it.

Space saver wheels are generally a rip-off.
Try eBay for a used 15" alloy - I just got one with a new tyre for £3.20!!! Probably the only cheap thing I have bought for it though!!!

Mike is right - spacesavers fetch silly money on Ebay or the breakers. Get a slim 15"wheel with a suitably high profile tyre and keep it in the boot instead.
You could even keep it partially deflated to save a little space and then pump it up with the compressor for Audis kit.
You will have to fit the retaining bracket first though - an easy bolt in job.

Mike

Alex thanks for that its a good idea and I would appreciate some photos if you wouldnt mind.
Mike and Mike thanks, didnt realise that and as it happens did see an SE wheel on ebay the other day.
, now just thought isnt the SE alloy a 16"??, if so I would need a different wheel got any ideas?, also what tyre size would I need ?.
Will cheak the breakers to see if they have the retaining bracket too. Does anyone have any good pictures of what I need so I know what on earth I'm talking about with the breakers??.
Also would a 15" fit under the false boot floor??.
Sorry for all the Q's but you are dealing with an idiot!!
Can any of you give me an idea what these things are worth second hand so I dont pay over the odds?.
Regards Andy.

Hi Andy
If you don't already have the Vagparts web site details, this is it - http://www.vagparts.com/
They list many goodies on the site but can source just about anything you would need.
Spare wheels - all standard size A2 wheels have approx the same diameter tyres so you may even manage to squeeze a 17" sport wheel into the boot. I have had a SE wheel under the false floor and the only problem is the floor panel no longer sits on the side rails because the tyre is too fat. I fitted rubber packers to compensate for this. Don't bother with the factory hold down bracket because it only works with a spacesaver. With a full size spare, the wheel sits in a slightly different position so the centre clamping bolt will not locate correctly. For info, the factory bracket sits over the battery and has a threaded insert to take the long clamping bolt. The clamping bolt goes through a hole in the battery cover panel and engages in the threades insert. There are some pics of the spacesaver wheel and bracket etc in the gallery
http://www.a2oc.net/gallery/browseimages.php?c=10
I won't be going to Castle Coombe this year. It's a 600 mile round trip for me and to be honest, although it was good to see everyone, I was slightly disappointed in the lack of trade stands etc. I was expecting something like GTI International but it was more like a track day with several Audi Owners Clubs in attendance. I hope this does not put you off as everyone else really enjoyed the day
Cheers Spike

thanks Spike, If I am using say for instance a 16"SE alloy as a spare would this be legal??.
Also could you tell me how I would secure the alloy??.
Sorry to be a pain.
PS, I ordered the discount card yesturday and also looked on the VAG site briefly and already have found £125 odd worth of little mods to do but have to sell the A4 first!!.

As per usual, Spike is quite right in that the Audi bracket will only fit the space-saver wheel.
However, as it is effectively a large slab of steel, you can drill and tap a new hole to suit whatever wheel/tyre you get, then use the hand screw to hold it in position. If you've a welder handy, you could even go the whole hog and put a nut on the plate, as per the original position.
There are other ways of securing a wheel, using the tie-downs on the floor for example, but as usual, the Audi solution is very well designed.
As for legalities, not sure to be honest. All that I can say is that any spare you do carry must be of legal tyre condition. I've had a 15" wheel/tyre on for a day once whilst I waited for a tyre to be delivered, and that was with the remaining 3 wheels at 17". As long as you don't mix the driven axle, you should be fine.
Cheers,
Mike

Alex thankyou very much for those pictures, the middle picture has not posted only the other two for some reason.
So does that mean I would need the two side rails and the folding floor??, The net would prob be enough to hold the spare roughly in place I would hope??.
Would I need any other brackets do you think?.
Thanks again your assistance is appreciated and once sorted I'm sure "Ollie" would be grateful too!!.
Regards Andy.
Strange, I just refreshed the page and the middle picture just posted up!?. lol

might be worth asking mike (skipton01) as ive not see an A2 with out the split floor all the ones round here seem to have it. You may need to replace the side bits of carpet in the boot as im not sure how the rail is fixed to them. The floor litrally unclips so once you have the rails you can just put it in or take it out as you wish. At the mo i have it uncliped with rear seats out and its flat from the back to the footwells.
Skipton01
15-04-2007, 04:53 PM
To fit the false boot floor, you'll need the following:
8Z0 858 859B - Angle Strip, left
8Z0 858 860B - Angle Strip, right
8Z0 858 861A 4PK - Cover, left (in black, other colours available)
8Z0 858 862A 4PK - Cover, right (as above)
8Z0 858 875A 44H - False floor (in black, again, other colours available)
Firstly, pull back the side carpeting, to see if you have the fixing slots and clips there already, then you'll have to modify the carpet (ie cut matching holes in it) and the strips just clip in.
If there are no slots there already, it'll obviously be a much bigger job.
I wouldn't bank on the net holding the spare either - it weighs a fair bit!
Cheers,
Mike

That looks nice and simple Spike - only Audi could have come up with that solution rather than 3 holes for 10mm bolts which would have done the job just as effectively!!
