Hi Adrenaline
My car is still on the original (now discontinued) Michelins so I have nothing to compare.
It may be worth checking the mytyres.co.uk web site as they show tyre test results for noise, comfort, grip etc for most brands they sell

Cheers Spike

I have run vredestein sportrac 2 on my sport tdi on 16" wheels, I used 205/50/16, they made the speedo over read but this was actually true speed when compared to my gps readout.

We went from Michelins to Kumho - didn't notice any decrease in comfort. But then the whole thing was less than comfortable anyway - nothing to do with the tyres! Koni FSD shocks helped there....

Hi...

My local garage had a set of partworn Goodyear Run Flats 195.55.16 (with 7mil tread). They give a great ride, and since I don't have a spare, if I get a puncture, i can still keep going. All for £100 mounted and balanced. Bargain.

Trouble is, your rims are not designed for use with run-flats. In the event of an accident, you could well find yourself liable, regardless of any other blame.

I've personally tried a few different brands and can't fault the toyo proxes on mytyres.co.uk, they're a great company, cheap with fast delivery, which reminds me i could do with ordering another 2 for the rear.....

dunlop SP9000's are great, I have 205 x 45 x 16 on a ZR rating, with a swap at around 25,000 miles, you can get 50,000 miles out of a set!

I've got Goodyear F1's they are only doing 37,000, I will be going back to the dun-ies, in a few weeks.

PS you get great rim protection with these also! no kerb's on my watch!!

Pink Panzer came with Conti Premiums and went I went to replace them was told by the places that I tried that they were on back order and it would be 6-8 weeks before they came in. As one pair were just under 4mm I took the decision to replace them all with Pirelli's.

Not very good IMHO. The car just doesn't feel as well 'planted' as it did on the Conti's and a side wind also seems to have more of an effect on the car too.

Plan to go back to the Cont's when the Pirelli's die.
I think the last time I looked at all the internet tyre sellers/suppliers there were only 5 listed for the 16".

Hi dkins
The sidewalls on runflat tyres are extremely stiff and generally known to give a very poor ride. Goodyear used to offer a tyre pressure monitoring kit with sensors fastened inside the rims. You would really need this if you go with the runflats.
For info, the 195/55/16 tyre size would make the speedo read about 5% slow compared to the standard 185/50/16's.

I think Contintental and dunlop have the best tyres

i've had pirelli P6000's on my Honda Accord and i was very dissapointed

My front tyres keep getting worn out on the inside, i've had it checked by two garages and ATS and they say the tracking is spot on...what could be causing this? the insides of the tyre is become more worn ourt after like 4000 miles. My tyre pressure is around 32 psi

Possibly the camber of the front wheels may be out, A2's always wear out the inner edge on the front & rear first (negative camber!) but not as fast as yours seems to.

I'd suggest having a full suspension set up check at a motorsport specialist, Audi stealers charge 1 arm & 1 leg for this service!!! a body shop would be another solution, just ensure they have access to the A2 setup data, I'm sure they will have.

Another possibility is wear in the suspension bottom arm bushes, not sure how old your motor is or the mileage but I'd get that checked before you splash out on a suspension reset.
Hope this helps

Tyres are a very subjective thing and one type can feel very different according to what car they are on. Don't assume that because you liked one brand on one car that you'll like them on another. The worst thing with the 16" wheels is that they are an unusual size so nothing is ever that cheap, I changed to 17" wheels as the tyres are much cheaper and you get much more choice.

Camber is the angle of the wheel from top to bottom. I.e. if you look at the car from the front, if the wheels have negative camber the tops of the wheels will angle in to the centre of the car relative to the bottoms.

Old BMWs and Spitfires always had lots of negative camber on the rear wheels.

Camber can also be exaggerated if you lower a car with shorter springs, so your tyres wear unevenly.

Which is the best tyre in terms of ride comfort?

A higly recommendable tyre size for maximum ride komfort is 195/55R15. You won't find a softer wheel that also offers great rim protection, especially if using a 6x15rim. Please also see here:
