ULP

One of my favourite past-times (I am sad) is seeing how prices vary for A2's for no apparent reason. I started this when I noticed that cars older than mine were coming up for sale at more money.
At the weekend I popped into Birmingham Audi which is the largest edifice you have ever seen on Stratford Road (A34), the specific reason was to check-out a used A3 they have that my mate was interested in.
Whilst nosing around, I was attracted to the A2's like poo to a wet blanket.
On the forecourt they have an '03' 1.4TDI (75) SE in black with 42,000 miles on the clock. How much do they want but only £9,995! Other than the climate and the colour, it has no other options fitted, yet it is similar prices to the forecourt price of '03' TDI SE's I was looking at in mid 2005 with only 20,000 miles on the clock, and is also only some £500 less than I paid for ULP (granted he was advertised at £11,500)!

Compare to this one in Bolton and rejoice in the fact the Christmas Party must be aright hum-dinger at Birmingham Audi:

Perhaps they are banking money in preperation for the huge electricity bill the air conditioned showroom will require - for anybody that hasn't seen the showroom it would give Tenerife airport a run for money on the size and amount of glass installed. Nice to see they are doing their bit for the environment...
I've not seen it but here is another that caught my eye as an exercise in 'winging it':

Generally 1.6FSI's seem to be incredible value for money, retailing at £1500 less than TDI's - if I was in the market today I'd probably take a chance on manky coil-packs and go for the petrol. Cars like this one just appear to be incredible value when compared to the diesels:

For used car buyers the message, as always, is shop around.
