Replacement Fog Light

I have managed to smash the lens on my drivers side foglight although it still works. I have tried a search but with no success and seem to remember that you can only buy the fog light as a complete unit and it costs something like £160 - is this correct and if so does anyone know where I can get a cheap one before I bend over and let Hitchin Audi shaft me sideways?

Likewise, if anyone has one hanging around they don't need I'd appreciate it...

Not only are they useless, but they are now costing me money (grumble...groan...mumble...)

Have you tried vagparts yet?

I know that they sell the complete kit, but it might be worth seeing if they do individual items and with the discount card it could save you some cash in the process.

Gone are the days of old when you could just replace the outer lens - stealers can now rip you off further by selling lights, (amongst other things), as complete sealed units. :mad:

Sorry to hear that more cash will be leaving your wallet - I guess chinese is on me Saturday then?! :p

Try one of the breakers on ebay. £160 seems steep the whole fog light kit is only £180 on vag parts.

I had the same issue a while back - cost me £130 fitted when done as part of the service but was quoted £150 (i think!!) when I asked about it on its own

No chance - I'm not gonna have people talking about me :)

Just a warning, I've got a cold although it should be on its way out by the weekend (probably the same one you had before and you can't catch the same cold twice anyway)

I'll try Hitchin Audi tomorrow as I'm happy to fit it myself and if rdufton thinks it's about £150 fitted then I'll be able to knock £60 off that in labour!

Teesside Audi costed all the foglight parts for me as I was thinking of retrofitting them. I am sure each foglight was 'only' about £55 + VAT - obviously available as LH/RH.

Got one on Monday - £80.80 with a bulb already fitted from dealer - you can fit them in 5 minutes - the little grill around it has 2 clips that you press in and pull the grill out, then undo 2 screws, pull the light out, unplug, pulg the new one in etc. How Audi can charge £50 to fit (ie half an hour?) is beyond me. It took 2 days to get in to the dealer.

A stealer has a minimum half hour labour charge that's why they charge that much, most garages operate the same principle

Yes but if you buy the part and the car is already booked in for a service, why not just fit it for free? Thats what I'd expect of any reasonable independent garage, wouldn't you?

Think you just answered your own question. I have owned various Audis in the past 20 years and I never found the words 'Audi dealer' and 'reasonable' in the same sentence!

I was quoted the same price as Lyndon so I have ordered one from Hitchin Audi which arrives Tuesday; more than happy to fit myself as I had a look at the installation some time ago when fitting the towing-eye to the front of the car (which also requires removal of the plastic shroud).

£80 is not too bad
