My wife (well it is her car i suppose) decided to run into the back of another car in our beloved A2.

There is only some fairly minor damage to the front bumper, just below the number plate.

Now my question, can A2's (for minor bodywork anyway) be repaired by normal bodyshops or do they need to go to the audi stearlerships?

If the damage IS only minor and cosmetic in nature, then you should be OK at any good bodyshop.

The only concern I'd have is that there is an aluminium bar directly behind the bumper skin which is in turn mounted to the front part of the chassis.

If you think this is undamaged, then fine, otherwise, go to the professionals specialising in aluminium cars.

Looks like she's caught a tow ball or similar.

The bumper skin is very thin and easily damaged, as you now know!

I wouldn't worry and just get it done at a good independent bodyshop if I were you.

Try david holt at holts body shop in weston insurnace approved, free courtesy cars. There work is first class and prices are very reasonable. even gave my van a valet when they repaired it. They ve also painted my A2 body kit and will hopefully be fitting it next week.

My A2 was rearended by the old lady nxt door and the bumper also cracked. Took the car to a normal bodyshop ad they had no problem fixing it...the cost €400 ( in Holland ). incl. in this price they also sanded down and painted the black part below the bumper as it during the years ( 2002 mod. ) took some beatings from stones etc. LOOKS GREAT.
