Sorry for this being in English, I don't know German. It's related to A2 and Germany, though... :o
I've had this silly idea in my head for a week now, that my 1,4 is lacking a bit of power, but since 1,6's are hard to find here and a lot more expensive, it would almost make sence to fit my car with a turbo. The problem is that in Finland the only way to have the car registered with this little mod is to go through a special pollusion test, which costs about 2000 (!!!) € . And this only for entering the test, whether or not the car passes!
The way to go round this would be to find a TüV marked turbo kit with the required documents. I've understood that A2 uses the same motor as Polo, so do you think there could be a tuning shop in Germany, that would have such kit for this motor? There hasn't been a factory 1,4t Polo, has there?

Hi,
sadly no factory 1.4T does or did exist.
One German tuner, called B&B ( www.bb-automobiltechnik.de ) did offer a turbo-kit for the A2 1.4. They soon took this kit out of their catalog. I think because of the high price of more than EUR 4000 based on the E-gas configuration of the A2 1.4 petrol. A Lupo 1.4 for instance does not come with E-gas making a turbo conversion much cheaper (at least approx minus 2000 EUR).
B&B currently offers the 1.4 TSI engine of the Golf GT with Stage 3 tuning with TÜV approvement. It puts out 240 HP and 360 Nm. I don’t know if that would fit the A2 engine bay (I doubt), however a stronger gearbox and clutch should be needed then. And bigger brakes.

TTP offers a 1.4 Lupo turbo kit (120 HP and 192 Nm) for 3248,- EUR:

Sadly the position of the B&B and TTP turbocharger does not fit the A2 engine bay – lack of space. The intercooler eats up valuable space too.
You can also ask www.slstuning.de . They do many VW and Audi turbo conversions and can professionally fit “everything“ you want with TÜV.
Finally there’s a German fellow converting his A2 to a 200 HP 1.8 T this summer. It is a home made custom project and will be fully TÜV approved.

I guess altogether this project will cost at least 7000 EUR.
So all in all much cheaper would be an A2 1.4 TDI fitted with a bigger turbo producing up to 140 HP.

Thanks a lot for the reply and the links. I don't want the diesel's noise and by law the power mustn't rise above 132 hp (at least on paper ;) ), so TSI or 1,8T are out of the question... I've driven TSI Golf, so I know that would be sweeeeet, though. Financially this has to wait until next year (if it happens at all), but to find those kits is encouraging. :)
