Im looking ahead at possible A2 Social events and stumbled on this RallyDay
Event at Chatsworth House ,Derbyshire,September 29th/30th ....
http://www.s130239007.websitehome.co.uk/chatsworth/index.html
I Have emailed the organizers and all Car Clubs not just Rally Car Clubs are welcome to join in this Event and Display there Cars .........
The Rally Event should prove quite a spectacle in the Very Beautiful grounds of Chatsworth House and if the ladies would like to attend But dont want to be talking cars allday then Chatsworth house is one of the best Historic houses in the country which also has beautiful Gardens and a very nice restuarant so this will be a welcome distraction from the RallyShow.......
Chatsworth house is in Derbyshire which is also situated nr one of the most glorious areas of the country the Peak District .......
At This stage I Would just like to get an idea of how many people would be interested in attending as this will be a popular event ,space will be a premium and maybe we can get a discount depending on how many people show an interest ........
We had a great time at the recent camping trip so it would be really nice to see those faces again as well as some new ones Please let me know if you are interested and i will look more into how much it will cost for us to display our cars at this event ......:)
Anyone for camping ;)it would be nice to finish of that BBQ that we started LOL !!!!:)

Not sure that it is going to be viable between now and October, but I'm getting more details sent and I think it'd be a good event to look forward to for about April/May next year, when we can take advantage of the daytime events too.

I'm 90% sure - we are off the week before then and planning to go to Germany the first weekend of leave but might have to do it this weekend. Little chance of that, but it's a possibility.
We are up for the camping too!

It would seem that most of the people that are interested in coming to this event are from the camping trip ...Is everyone intested in turning this into a camping Trip as i will need to look around for a suitable campsite ..........

I'll probably be able to make that, although you must all be aware that Chatsworth don't allow camping or BBQ's in the grounds. There are plenty of campsites within a few miles though, and lots of great driving roads.
We were there (along with 292 others) for a TVR car club meet in April.
They've got a great Garden center as well.
PS if you find any possible camp sites I'd be happy to check them over and send photo's, I'm only 30 mins from Chatsworth.

I have been on the case although i have been snowed under with work ,
some of the campsites nearer Chatsworth as recomended to me by a work colleague
look nice but wont take large groups or say they are booked up .....
I Have found a larger site at Ashbourne which is about twenty miles from Chatsworth and they say they may be able to accomodate us take a look and see what you think .......
http://www.callowtop.co.uk/
and here are some reviews about the site
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2331
It really is a bit of a mindfield trying to find a nice campsite you dont want one thats 2 noisy or 2 small with no facilites , Ullswater Lake campsite in the Peak District would be great if only we could move it to the Peak District , We drive past Carsington Lake on the way to and from the campsite ,thinking photo opportunities again ......
If anyone knows of any nice campsites in this area and would like us to consider them please let us know
Cheers Carl ;)

At Carsington Reservoir there is a car park called sheepwash which would be good for your photos as it's free and is less busy than the visitor centre (which is pay and display).
You can do a nice walk round part of the reservoir from there too and have picnics/ barbeque's.
There's a pub called the knockerdown round the corner and the Miners Arms in Carsington village which my Grandpa used to keep!
I'll put my thinking cap on as to a good camp site for you all.
May be able to join you at Chatsworth - dont know that far in advance if im working yet.

I contacted Greenhills Campsite in Bakewell yesterday .....They had been on my shortlist for a while as they have had car clubs there before , i was getting them mixed up with another campsite in Ashbourne who they are partners with, and i wanted somwhere a little nearer Chatsworth .......
I have had a bit of a job finding a campsite seems people are eager to get you on there campsite until you tell them its for 10 tents .........
As i said I Contacted GreenHills yesterday and spoke to the booking office it turns out that they would love to have us camp there they have room for 10 tents on Greehills for the Friday and Saturday ,they are going to try and get us all together, some with electric hook ups available .........I Also found out that they have a sister site which also has spaces called Peakland Campsite ......
The Manager is supposed to be phoning me today as i think he may offer us a slightly better deal .........I Will keep u posted on this .........
I Need to find out what we are doing about the deposit as its got to be easier if each camper deals with the campsite direct ......
Just reminding you the cost for the Rallyday is as follows
No. 2-day passes (Adults 17 and over) upto & inc 19 cars @ £21 £
No. 2-day child passes (Children under 9 admitted free) @ £8
I Will need to let the organizers know if you are coming to this and will need to know
your Car/Make/Model and registration number i think this money is payable in advance as well ..........
Once again sorry for not being around much hopefully we will know for sure about he campsite today ......
ILL KEEP YOU POSTED .......
Cheers CARL :)

OK I Have spoken to the manager today and they have been extremely helpful
the Campsite that we will be staying at is
http://www.greenhillsholidaypark.co.uk/index.html
It is situated very nr to Bakewell which is not far from Chatsworth ....
I Have provisionally said to the Manager that we would like to camp on the
28th/29th September we both agreed that it would probably be easier for myself if people paid there Deposit direct to the campsite and also discuss there personal camping requirements electric hook ups etc etc .......
At the moment they can get 10 pitches together but obviously we will have to be as quick as possible , they will try there hardest to get us all together to make sure of this ........
The booking is under the name LARRAD
If you could mention that you are with the A2OC
To pay your deposit and Book your pitch phone this number
01629 813052
You can still attend this event and display your A2 at Chatsworth even if your not thinking of camping but as you will see from the Prices above it is a 2 day event , If you are thinking of just attending for one day then obviously you will still have to pay the 2 day event price ,....So if you think this a bit steep for one day then you could still attend the event as a General Spectator and come along and see the A2 GanG .......

Excellent news!
Looking at the webite, we'll be getting 2 nights camping, including electric hook-up for £14!!!! There's a 50% reduction for the time that we'll be there - result!
The campsite is only about 20 miles from home for me, but as Ang now has the camping bug, this won't be an issue. It's also less than 4 miles from Chatsworth.
Nice one Carl.
Cheers,
Mike
Good show Carl - I'll make my booking today.
Marie and I are going back to the Lakes during that week to see my sister, brother-in-law and nephew, staying at Waterside on Ullswater, so this will be a nice break on the way back!
Carry-on camping!

I'm booked in... taken just £10 deposit. I asked about the £14 for the two nights but they said its £10 something per night (Camping nightly charges incl 2 persons £10.50).
I didn't add the elec connection but I can change later not sure what I need which is electric.
Should also mention they had no idea what I was talking about when I said the booking was under the name LARRAD so she made a note that i'm with A2OC.

A Few people have said that they would just like to attend for one day I Have emailed the organizers of the event and this is there reply .........
"Your members can attend for one day only, if they come on Saturday the price is £11, £15 for Sunday. This includes all the bits and bobs you get for coming as a car club, though bear in mind that the Grand Parade is on Sunday, so only those attending on Sunday can be part of that."
Hopefully this clears things up and we can get a healthy turnout for this event .......
So to make things clear the cost for the Rallyday is as follows
2-day pass (Adults 17 and over) upto & inc 19 cars @ £21 Each PERSON
2-day child pass (Children under 9 admitted free) @ £8 Each PERSON
1-day pass (Adults 17 and over) for Saturday @ £11 Each PERSON
1-day pass (Adults 17 and over) for Sunday @ £15 Each PERSON
A program is included in the price and i think we also get a plaque or something for entering the event ..............
I Will need to let the organizers know which days people will be attending ,
I Still need Your Car/Make/Model and registration number the money for passes is payable in advance I will PM you my address so that you can send me your cheques as i will need to send all the money together if you could send me a cheque as soon as possible ,
PLEASE MAKE CHEQUES PAYABLE TO "The Rally Show Ltd”.
The cut off point for this event to apply for a place is 31st August .........
For those people that wish to camp as well you need to contact Greenhills campsite direct and book your pitch great to see that some of you have done this already .........
Many Thanks
CARL ;)

I've finally got around to reserving my 'pitch', however, it seems as though the camp site have got confused and put many of those who have already booked in with a Subaru OC, and others (such as Carl and Richard) arn't even down as having a booking (not unless Carl now lives in West Brom!)
The lady I spoke to was called Jan, and it may be advisable to phone up and speak to her if you have already made a booking in order to clarify whether your booking is actually on the system/in with the Subaru lot!
I did inform her that Mike and Chris are with the A2OC along with myself, however, every other name I mentioned she had no record of a booking for!
Darren (C) and Di are with Marie and I so they won't have a booking per-se, however thanks for squaring it with the camp site that we aren't in the big-bore exhaust brigade!

seems like they where getting us mixed up with the Scooby club as they are also attending the Rally ..........Whatever happens they are going to reserve us 6 pitches .........
I Spoke to the lady who allocates the pitches and They have not actually allocated the pitches yet but know everything is cleared up we will all be together ........
I Have also told the campsite that we are a quiet , civilised lot who will NOT be making lots of noise so can we have a quieter pitch away from the Max Power Brigade LOL !!!!!

Ha ha! It's not the Scoobie owners you need to worry about (most of them are I.T. boys who get excited by hard-drives and gigs of RAM rather than alco-pops and boobies) rather 'The Langley Old Boys' a bunch of middle-aged men who forgot to grow up or have any common courtesy for the people around them... :)

Really looking forward to this now.. I bought my tent today, watch out fellas as, yes, I will be a smug git when it comes to 'erection'
I will however be leaving after work on the Friday as I cannot afford anymore time off (will explain when I see you!), so it is unlikely that I will be there 'early' on the Friday - leave me a space!!

Hi Richard,
We will be travelling up on Friday from Milton Keynes; currently looking to set off between 12:00 and 1:00.
Given your schedule, you may well be ahead by then though, but junction 23A M1 is a possibility.
I will probably have more of an idea on the day. Welcome to exchange mobile numbers via PM if you like.
Cheers,
Darren

Hi Carl,
Recieved the passes this morning, - cheers !
Do you know if they have a preference as to which gate they want us to enter by ?
Suppose gate 2 is the obvious way in.?
Will try and get there for about 8.30-ish Sunday morning. (Depends what time l can drag the missus and child out of bed !!! )
Save me a pitch on the stand. ( Somewhere near the back. A quiet spot. Somewhere were a nondescript ailing A2 won't look out of place ........)
By the way , BLIMEY, some of you lot are travelling a far old distance !!!
CU all there,

We'll be setting off about 2pm, as it's only 25 miles down the road for us.
Might have to do a quick flirt home each day too, as we've a sick pet at the moment, who needs regular medication.
Cheers,

Hi Carl, Passes in this mornings post, thankyou.
cheers,
Malcolm.
Marie and I will be at the camp site at about 3pm, and are travelling down from the lakes (via Martings house to pick up my new wheels - Darren, keep some space free in your boot for a couple of wheels!)
Sadly, we are without 'ULP' and are attending in an A3 instead; sorry to let the side down and I'll make sure to park with the plebs rather than our club members. Still, it's a 2.0TDI 170 Sport so it flies like a bee-hatch but rides like ****...

I knew there was a reason for the tent share invite... the cavernous space of the A2 is more than a match for the A3 then I see!! ;)
As for the arriving and parking up in the A3; you know only too well that we aren't snobs in the A2OC!! :D

I'll be openly honest now - I'm not bringing any food this time as I'll be heading straight from work tomorrow and won't arrive until late. Will have to make do with snacks and pub food for the weekend methinks - may even have to stop off on-route to grab a meal etc
To be honest, it's cold enough for milk to be left outside and keep for a few days so that's cereal sorted for breakie
There will be a few stoves around for cups of tea, coffee, chocolate etc. so after that just bring a loaf of bread and whatever you want to fill it with, or crackers etc. During the day there'll be plenty of dirty-burgers to munch on and so-on at the Rally event I suspect.
Darren's bringing all my food, and we're covering the beer (oh yes, don't forget some booze if that's you thing!)
