Has anyone tried typing www.audi.co.uk/a2 into their browser?

I've just tried if, after seeing something on the Audi Channel on Sky.

Oh, the shame that Audi must feel about this great little car!

Try it - you'll see what I mean.

Cheers,

Mike

As in the lack of anything remotely A2? A few weeks back when I was looking to see if they had any remaining A2 accessories for sale, I couldn't find anything then either.

Given the amount of of new, more environmentally friendly cars that are and about to be manufactured by other companies, I find it amazing that Audi have not raised the possibility of re-instating the A2 (the A1 doesn't count as it is primarily a small sports coupe). They could even use steel instead of aluminium to keep costs down and use the technology learnt over the last few years to produce a facelifted A2 still capable of sub 120g / 65MPG. Costs could be further limited by keeping it to two basic models. Big, high inertia organisations for you. :Sigh:

I looked at the new a3 sectioon on congestion charge and it does mention the a2 in there so it is not totally hidden as

These more environmentally considerate models will be engineered with the benefit of experience gained during the development of the pioneering, aluminium-bodied A2 compact hatchback of 1999, which offered 81g/km CO2 output and 94-plus mpg capability and is widely regarded as a car born well ahead of its time.

They're actually making reference to a car that was never officially sold or imported into the UK - priceless!!

If you look at the production locations section (under about Audi), they still refer to the A2 in the present tense!

'The Neckarsulm plant has put itself on the map in particular as the production plant for vehicles with all-aluminium bodies. The largest employer in the region (there are currently almost 14,000 employees), it builds the Audi A6, A6 Avant, A8 and long-wheelbase A8, the sports models Audi S6, S6 Avant and Audi S8, and the A2 and Audi allroad quattro.'

The Audi UK site is shocking though - they are just not grasping the concept of market leading in any way.

Regardless of the A2 (which I THinkwe alll know Audi UK considered it didnt exist) - the site is very poor. No A5 confirgurator in the UK, no accessories cataogue online, search funtionality limited on used car site and very often wrong - it just shows how little VWgroup UK care about that side of their image.
