Having read the Alu Fatigue thread with interest (my 2001 model has small v-shaped marks about 5mm, do not look too worrying at present) I have noticed another issue with A2 front doors:
If you follow the crease line in the front doors forward from the door handle you are most likely to see two small ripples on the crease. I have looked at a few A2s on the street as well as mine and they all seem to exhibit this problem. The problem is usually manifest only on the drivers door, but may occur on the passenger's side if often used.
I can only surmise that the outer skin is a little thin for long term durability. Can't wait to get my doors replaced!
