Same old sketches doing the rounds again I see and the more I see them, the more I dislike it - reminds me of Rover 25 with an Audi nose.

Cheers,

Mike

Come on Mike, doesnt the S1 tempt you a little?

Would look nice in black parked next to Tank! :)

No - absolutely not. I'd either go for a TT TDi, remapped and fettled or an A8 TDi, with the same treatment.

I just can't get excited by a steel 3-door supermini that has been introduced to compete with the BMW Mini (and will probably fail!), whether it has 200PS or not.

Sorry!

Cheers,

Mike

Ok, each to their own as they say!

It doesn't interest me much either. I might perk up a bit if it can beat our 65MPG (unlikely with a steel body) or if it has a hybrid drivetrain (even more unlikely). There are lots of exciting cars coming out over the next three years and I am not sure Audi are being imaginative enough.

I think they have lost the plot with this one, I wouldn't consider it as it has only been shown as a three door and competition for a mini! They should be aiming at the BMW1 series, I like the BMW1 as its almost (in my opinion) has the size but better looks than the A3. Also BMW have done lots to make the inside a quality look even for their baby car.

Oops, sorry too many BMWs mentioned there:rolleyes:

The blurb mentions a 5 door....

That is the one that would interest me.

Just another premium (sic) small car with no justification for what will be laughable pricing - make mine the Fiat Grande Punto and pocket the change thanks.

Personally, I always buy 2 - 3 year old vehicles.

Takes the sting out of the depreciation.

I think there is a Hybrid model being launched at the Tokyo motor show. :)

As I thought, the new A1 will weigh in at around 1,100kgs and is based on the VW Polo and Skoda Fabia platform. They mention the "ill-fated" A2:

However they will be using a new alloy frame on the next A8 (Mike?) which will be the sister model to a new Bentley...

Hey gang.

Just found another link, this time with what appears to be real pics of the A1. (Maybe Photoshop)

http://cars-audi.blogspot.com/

Oh.. and by the way, scroll down a bit more to see the sexy new concept for the A4. What do you think Mike? ;)

The A1 photos do look real and will probably be of the concelt car to be shown in October.

I still think the car is awful and completely unimaginative.

The new A4 though is a different kettle of fish - having driven the A5 and liked it a lot, I do like the way that the new A4 is practically an A5 clone, but with added practicality built in.

The A5 is a big car, but yet only has room in the back for very small adults or children, even with the front seats forward!

The boot space is good, but because of the shape of the lid, you won't be getting anything large in there.

The A4 though does have decent rear seats and a decent boot, but yet manages to be smaller on the outside, in much the same way as our A2s are.

The Avant should be even better!

Cheers,

Mike

Oh, and it's not an A4 concept either - that's the real deal, as available from early next year (Eco engine apart).

I do hope the 5 door is going to be a more practical shape.

Rather than post in the thread where Manhattan has advised that he has put down a deposit on an Audi A1, I thought it would be kinder to continue in this topic thread  .

There had been something bugging me about the A1 design and why I was not keen on it....which was solved in a car park when I spotted a Citroen C3 Pluriel

Check out the link below for a pretty good likeness:

Just order "aluminium silver" to hide the pluriel feature! Although the aluminium roof bars maybe an Audi extra "price" option if they go all a bit BMW.
