I think it would be quite friendly if when we pass another A2, we give a quick wave or flash of the headlights. Good/bad idea?

I have tried flashing my lights at every A2 I see coming in the opposite direction for a couple of months - probably about eight times in total. Not one response from any of them but to be fair I am not sure the other drivers have time to react.

I quite regularly post in the 'Was it you?' section but have never had a response. I have been thinking about putting together small A2OC.net flyers which I would keep in the car to put under the windscreen wipers of parked A2's I see. The more A2 owners we can get using this forum the better!

There's a flyer already made for this - search the announcements for "Pocket Flyer".

Cheers,

Thanks Mike, I should have looked first. Pocket Flyers now printed off and ready to go!

I've had my car spotted by Glock and spotted Poor John's!

Us Ulster folk are a friendly bunch.

I wave nearly all the time to an oncoming A2, ( much to my wifes amusement ) , and only once got a wave back. Every one else either ignores you or looks at you as if to say whats up with you !?
When out driving my Series 2 1964 landrover you always get a friendly wave from an oncoming ' oldish ' Landrover.( Probably because they know anyone daft enough to dare drive a S2 Landrover is a real Landrover 'nut'/ enthusiast. )

Strange thing though, my wife sometimes gets a wave when she's out inthe A2 on her own ?????

Us bikers have been doing the nod of acknowledgment for years and i think that its a good idea for A2 owners to do the same providing its of course safe to do so.
A wave and a smile would go a long way.

I do wave at other A2s but the other driver always seems to be looking straight ahead as if they don't actually see another one.

I didn't wave at Smick as it wasn't him driving (not that I knew that) but the fact that I was in the Fiesta van.

Cheers

I had a "new Mini" until I saw the light last year and Mini drivers were always flashing and waving each other. It was a great feeling and made the day but seemed to tail off as more Minis appeared on the road. As soon as I had my A2 I tried tried flashing or waving at A2 drivers. The response was usually a disdainfull look or the "I'll look straight ahead, I've not seen you" [/I][/I]attitude. Such a shame. The only glimmer of joy has been when I've given oncoming A2's a quick flash (headlight!), been totally ignored but watched in my mirror as the A2's brakelights came on as it braked down to the speed limit assuming there was a speed trap ahead...

Yes - I have to say I've given up, not once do I get a wave back.

Like Jimbobaroo says - in the Landy every other Landy nutter waves!

Don't forget that with the size and profile of the 'A' pillars, waves can be both difficult to see and be seen by other A2's.....
Add to that the effect of tinted glass, and the distance between the waving hand the the windsreen will tend to reduce the chance of visible contact been made in time.

I always check out the number plate to see if the car is one I've seen before. So far I've seen more than 50. If the other A2 driver looks at my car, they will see me with a look of concentration on my face as I struggle to remember their number. If they could read my lips, they would realise that I'm repeating their registration over and over. It's not easy when you see 3 A2s in quick succession as I did this morning.

I wave. Can't help myself. Used to ride a moped, then cycled for 7 years, and the a2 is my first car for a long time and I can't break the habit.

So wave back. Oh, and hi to to the driver of the amber a2 in wymondham who managed to couple 'entertained' and 'bemused' into a single expression when I offered one of my finest waves on the weekend.

I live in SE London, so if you don't wave back, you miss your chance :)
